Notice that the name "Cahen" is of a kind with "Cohen" which is Hebrew for "priest" and is a name used by the self-styled "Jews" of latter days.

Peter had been painting portraits for many self-styled "Jewish" families in Paris. The Cahen family was among the richest thereof.

Price was not negotiated aforehand, and was expected to be generously offered after the painting would be fulfilled.

The Cahens didn't like it. They bade Peter to paint Irène's two younger sisters, called "Alice" and "Elisabeth" together. For both paintings Louis Cahen paid a low cost of 1,500. As insult against Peter, Louis had them to be hung in his servants' abode. Fury overtook Peter

When her age was 19, Irène was wedded to Moïse (Moses) de Camondo. Moïse was the last of a long line of Jewish bankers from the Ottoman empire. While the couple was in wedlock, her portrait by Peter hung in one of the Camondo family's hotels.

Irène converted to Catholicism. She off with the Camondo's stable man.
